Jason Mather

Describe what you do at King's:

My wife and I moved to Long Beach to start the church 10 years ago. I've served as the Lead Pastor ever since.

What does a typical work day look like?

Spending time with people, reading, praying, planning, and eating!

Where did you go to school?

Vanderbilt '95 - Bachelor in Engineering

Westminster '01 - MDIV

What is something people might not know about you?

I love traveling internationally. One of my favorite all-time experiences was packing Europe for 5 weeks with my wife Olivia (France, Spain, Italy, & Switzerland).

What is your favorite verse?

Don't have one. Each passage of Scripture usually impacts me depending on where I am in life, issues I'm dealing with or lessons God is teaching me.

Favorite place to eat in Long Beach:

Don't have one. I love too many different types of food. I enjoy trying new places. I do have a weak spot for Lazy Acres' Pizza and Kinoya Sushi.

What inspires you?

People inspire me. People who do the little things with faithfulness and a servant's heart.

You have a day off...what do you do?

Spend time with my wife Olivia and our three kids: Carter (9), Teddy (7), & Lucy Carol (4). I'll also sneak in a workout at the UFC gym or a run along the beach.

Childhood ambition:

I always wanted to be an Oceanographer and swim with whale sharks...and dolphins.

The best movie of all time is...

dependent upon my mood. I used to love mindless action movies (Predator...Aliens...have I dated myself?) but as I've grown older I lean towards more thought-provoking movies. I wish I had more time to watch movies but ever since we've had kids I've been too tired.
