Why We Give

Giving is a vital part of our spiritual lives. As Christians, we believe that God is the owner of everything and that we are stewards who've been entrusted with certain gifts, talents, and resources for only a time. For that reason, we encourage believers to give faithfully. Stewarding our finances well is honoring to God. Also, when we give, we believe we are participating in Christ's work of redemption that will last for eternity and there is nothing more important in which we can invest. For that reason, we encourage believers to give generously. But perhaps the most important reason we give is because we have experienced firsthand the sacrificial love of Jesus on the cross for our sins. For that reason, we encourage believers to give joyfully. In 2 Corinthians 8:9, Paul explains the impact the gospel should have on the way believers understand wealth: "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich." Understanding the riches we already have in Christ not only liberates us from excessive concern over our possessions, it also motivates us to invest them in the Kingdom of God.
